My father tells me all the time, “Son?... It is very important to take care of your body just as much as we like taking care of our cars.” Sometimes you could drive through a neighborhood on a Saturday afternoon where majority of the community are home, off from their jobs. At times you would see someone washing their cars in the driveway, making sure their vehicles are looking good and shiny. There are other cars in the driveway sitting with the hood popped open and the head of the person is under the hood, pouring fresh motor oil into their engines, making sure their engines run smoothly from day to day. Or someone would be underneath their car with their tools to tighten up any loose bolts, flushing out old oil, transmission fluid etc. Their general purpose is to keep their cars healthy and running at top peak performance for a very long time. Taking care of your ride is Great! But at the same time, we’re disregarding our very own health. “Something is wrong when your own car is much more healthier than your very own body.” he would say. My father was sharing some thought provoking wisdom that sticks to me everyday, “It is highly essential to hydrate your body with alkaline water, eat your salads fruits and vegetables, eat meat in moderation without over eating too much of it.” I’ve clarified in my very previous blog entitled ‘Alkaline water allows the body to heal itself’ ; {Alkaline water hydrates the blood and cells much more on a cellular level and replenishes your vital organs on a cellular level.} “Putting fresh Alkaline water in your body is close to putting fresh motor oil in your car. Your body flushes built up old toxins and makes room for fresh alkaline water to take over.” By staying consistent in taking proper care of your body, you will increase your lifespan.
At times as I drive on the freeway, every now and again I would see a broke down car parked in the emergency lane with hazard lights blinking. “Cars that no longer work are considered a dead car. When the oil hasn’t been changed as well as the transmission fluid, no coolant / anti-freeze, you cannot expect your car to last any longer. Your Body is equivalent to a car. When we don’t eat the right foods, drinking the right liquids, not exercising on a regular basis, chances are our bodies will shut down (dead). Dead broke down cars end up in the junkyard and dead human bodies end up in the graveyard.” The two scenarios made lots of sense. It is important to value your body, your life and your health just as much as you would value your car.
Some people would say, “Well, looks can be deceiving.” Meaning, your car can look very nice, brilliant shine, clean like a whistle, looking brand spanking new on the exterior. But under the hood’s interior involves a terrible poor functioning engine. Then you have an older vehicle like mine for example, I currently own a 98’ Chevy Malibu. The exterior of the car doesn’t look the best AT ALL. The paint on the hood is fading away, the head lights are foggy and not as bright, the material inside of the car is beginning to hang low in the backseat area of the car. The car is quite old. But under the hood’s interior involves a very healthy functioning engine. My Malibu runs quite well with over 150k miles on the engine. It is my responsibility to make sure my car is given it’s oil change every 3 months and a tune up twice a year. By following those principles, my car will sustain for a very long time. As I drive on the freeway, every once in a while, I’d see a luxury Mercedes Benz stuck on the side of the road with blinking hazard lights, waiting for roadside assistance. I’ve also witnessed a BMW with full blown smoke evading out of the hood. It doesn’t matter what type of car you drive. If you don’t take care of it, it will not take good of you. Same applies to our bodies. Your physique, shape, structure, size and muscular development doesn’t even matter. You can look as slender as a telephone pole and highly debilitated. Or maintain a thick & plump physique and just as healthy as a NBA Basketball Athlete. What you put inside your body is what matters most including exercise. Take care of your body just like you take care of your vehicle.
